Broomhall Way Housing
Broomhall Way is an exemplar project delivered by Rooftop Housing Group in their aspiration for affordable housing designed to meet the climate crisis challenge and provide generous, high quality new homes that instill pride in residents.
The scheme will create a well-balanced intergenerational community across its 100% affordable homes. Houses are designed to suit a wide range of residents and have generous space standards, far higher than typical open market development. Communal gardens, allotments, orchards, and a wildlife pond are being integrated to ensure good health and well-being of the residents and provide opportunities to form a strong, resilient community.
The scheme proposes a mix of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and 1 and 2 bedroom older persons bungalows designed to meet the need for good quality affordable housing in the area for all ages.
All dwellings aim to achieve a SAP / EPC A rating thereby helping to reduce carbon emissions. The design of each house considers overheating, shading, and passive solar gain to reduce carbon consumption. High quality building fabric, high levels of airtightness and PVs on the roofs will keep low fuel costs for tenants and occupiers.
